N.B.G.A. "BARLEY BOWL"

The annual NBGA barley bowl is a end of season ceremonial game, whereby the playing field is divided into two teams. All participating members shall bring a dish to share and leave with the beer that they brought.

     TEAM SELECTION

  • The first and second place seasonal players shall be the team captains for the annual Barley Bowl.
  • Any player who has ever played in an NBGA sanctioned game shall be eligible for the Barley Bowl.
  • Beginning with the SECOND place player, each captain will choose one player from the field of available players until all players are chosen.

  • TEAM SELECTION
    (An odd number of players shall benefit the second place team.)

     

    GAME PLAY

  • The Barley Bowl shall consist of a NINE HOLE game.
  • All NBGA rules of play shall apply unless otherwise noted. Scoring shall be as if there are less than 4 players (see Rule #8).
  • Each hole shall be a "closest ball" event, whereby one team has every player in succession play the same hole. The player with the closest shot shall leave his ball on the turf.
  • The challenging team now has each player successively play the shot from the tee.  In the event of a par 2, the team may choose one player's ball after the tee shots.  Only that player may hit their ball.
  • The team with the closest ball shall obtain the point or points.
  • In the event of a tie on any given hole or of the game, the team shall nominate a chugger for their team.  Regular chug-off (i.e. "duel") rules apply.
  • Each hole, beginning with hole 2, shall begin with the team who won the previous hole.
  • The winning team shall receive a Barley Bowl Champions Ball for each team player which will give them a 1 foot advantage for the next season.. All players shall receive a participation souvenir.

     Post-Game

     The "Barley Bowl" shall serve as the year end event for the NBGA. As such, the post game shall begin at the 19th hole of the sponsoring course. The events shall be:

    1.  The game host shall award the "Barley Bowl" team koozies. Photos to follow. 

    2. Beginning with the lowest seasonal score player and proceeding upwards, each player may approach the podium for their award and share a "memorable moment", if they wish. 

    3.  The season’s second place player shall conclude their "memorable moment" with the presentation of the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY to this years’ seasonal point champion. Photos to follow.
